Moorestown Theater Company

Since co-founding the non-profit Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) with his wife Carol Ann Murray (Founding Managing Director), and her mother, Beverly Bennett (Founding Music Director) in 2003, this award-winning community theater has seen this remarkable growth.

• First Season (2003):  1 Musical with 8 Performances by 90 Cast Members

• Last Season (2024): 13 Musicals with 67 Performances by 536 Cast Members

• 23 Seasons (2003 – 2024):  236 Musicals with 1,068 Performances by 9,957 Cast Members (we’ll hit 10,000 Cast Members with our Winter Stage ’25 production of Frozen Jr.)

• COVID-19 Seasons (2020 – 2021): 19 LIVE Musicals with 79 Performances by 485 Facemask-Wearing Cast Members

In addition, MTC has received 90 significant awards, including:

• 18 “Best Of” Awards at the national Jr. Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA by 15 Casts at 13 Festivals since 2013

• Two “Outstanding” Awards at the regional Eastern States Theater Association Festival (ESTA Fest) in Wilmington, DE in 2017

• 70 “Best Of” Awards from various local organizations and publications

• 2025
    – Carol Ann Murray was named one of the “40 Fabulous Females” by The Sun
      Newspapers
in February
    – Mark Morgan was named a “Freddie G Fellow” by Music Theatre International in
      January

• 2023
    – “Community Impact Award” from the Association Of Fundraising Professionals
      (SNJ Chapter) in November
    – “Cultural Access Network Innovator Award” from the New Jersey Theatre Alliance
      in June
    – Brought the 1st chapter to NJ of the national ‘Penguin Project’ (for neuro-diverse
      students) in April

• 2022
    – “NJ Community Theater of The Year” from the NJ Association of Community Theaters
      in September
    – “Best Collaborative Award” (with BAYADA Home Health Care) from the NPDC of SNJ
      in June

• 2016
    – “Community Enrichment Award” from the Burlington County Reg. Chamber of
        Commerce in April

Mark earned his Bachelors (Radio-TV-Film) and Masters (Sports Administration) degrees from Temple University (and is a very loud and proud ‘Owl’!).  Besides directing nearly 150 productions, he also teaches MTC’s Audition Coaching and Acting Classes.  Mark and Carol Ann are the proud parents of Chaz, Jack, and Juliet, as well as ‘furry children’ ‘Muzzie’, ‘Koda’, and ‘Millie’.
