Michele is a passionate and accomplished nonprofit leader with a deep commitment to strengthening the South Jersey nonprofit community. With expertise in technology, operations, development, training, and volunteerism, Michele has made lasting contributions through her leadership and service.
Since joining Jersey Cares in 2019 as Vice President of Programs, Michele has led a dedicated team overseeing 250+ monthly service projects and creating new opportunities for community engagement. Currently serving as Vice President of Capacity Building Training and Strategic Initiatives, she focuses on nonprofit change management and capacity building, playing a pivotal role in aligning the Volunteer Center of South Jersey’s (VCSJ) Nonprofit Institute with Jersey Cares programs following the merger of the two organizations.
Michele also partners with New Jersey state agencies on initiatives related to disaster preparedness, response, and volunteer engagement. In 2020, she collaborated with the NJ Department of Human Services to launch the Senior Shoppers Program, which mobilized hundreds of volunteers to deliver groceries to seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before her role at Jersey Cares, Michele served as Executive Director of VCSJ, where she spearheaded initiatives such as launching an online volunteer matching system that connected 8,000+ volunteers with local nonprofits. She also established the VCSJ Nonprofit Institute, providing training in volunteer engagement and board development, and introduced the Points of Light Service Enterprise (SE) certification program, making VCSJ New Jersey’s only certified SE HUB.
Michele furthered community partnerships by securing a Premiere Partnership Agreement with Rowan College of South Jersey, designating VCSJ as the college’s official Office on Volunteerism and Civic Engagement.
Before transitioning into the nonprofit sector, Michele held leadership roles in technology, banking, and higher education, including positions at Rowan University, South Jersey Technology Park, and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. With over 40 years of service, Michele has been an unwavering community advocate, serving on numerous municipal and nonprofit boards. A dedicated champion of volunteerism, she continues to lead by example, inspiring others to give back and make a difference.
